hey there

Been a while....
I have been given a big opportunity a while ago to go to london as part of a youth conference aiming to prevent child abuse and cruelty on the internet. it's called IYAC. and the website is IYAC.net
its an all expenses paid trip including flights, accomodation, and meals...awesome! there are five others from ireland going too. i met them last month, and im heading to meet them again on saturday. for that, i have a presentation to give on socialurl.com and a few other homework kind of things to do.
All in all, i figure it will be a great experience.

In other news!
Playing guitar is comming along well. supposed to be practicing with the band tomorow after a bit of a break due to exams and stuff. the idea is we are introducing a new bassist to the set up. plus we should be pooling what we have worked on in the past two months.

some people:
thinking about who i can gripe about today isnt so easy. not really in that mood right now.

good luck,

some people

some people, episode two!

todays episode is about those pompous parents you all know and love ...
rugby training- 7:00pm- temp=3celsius- lotsa rain and wind.

training ended early due to inclement weather...after we endured an hour of it. so were cold wet and covered in mud. the coaches decided to call a team meeting/talk thing. feck.
so i sit in my gear, because i didn't bring other clothes and cool down some more. eventually when the talk started, i didn't hear a word because i was too cold to concentrate. talk over, time to get a lift home because dad suddenly decides to go to a match and leave me stranded when he could have just called my mum! i get a lift and sit in the car shivering to meet the biggest bitch known to man. i get a lift to my town...but thats pretty much it. i still have another 200 meter walk in wet socks and shorts looking like a right R-tard to get home. by the time i hobbled in the door, i couldn't feel my feet or hands and was shivering, about to actually kill somebody. it took 20 minutes in the shower to warm up and even then i had not stopped shaking. all because of that arrogent bitch in the car.
tune in next time!
bye

february

hi!
this is going much better than i expected. i never really hoped i could write so often in something. i guess its good for the auld english class!
I'm determined to have something new every day so today will be no exception. Take a look at the video i posted of my piston. I'm very proud of that.
i still have the flu, or something. so I'm either really negative or non responsive...depending on who I'm talking to. :) muscle pain was eased during PE today, where I'm lucky enough to be able to lounge in a steam room and jacuzzi. but my head wasn't so great afterwards!
I went to an art store yesterday to get myself some more acrylics to better my collection. I'm doing art for the leaving cert. but not in school, i get a grind each week. not ideal but its worth it, if only for the art practice. i don't draw or paint as much as i should and this helps encourage me to keep it up. i have fairly good skill with pencil and other solid mediums, but paint was never really my thing. I was painting in oils before acrylic so i have a base but they are really different to each other. I have a piece in progress for the art grind. It's supposed to be on surrealism but i can't see it coming out well. It'll probably end up being just a landscape with contrasts. lol. I'll stick with it though, if anything it's good practise. and i do have another two canvases waiting to be artistically raped.

well, school as everyone knows is not all it's cracked up to be. best days of your life my arse! nowhere else in the world are you forced to do more work at home after a full days work already...every day! it's irritating to think that as soon as this big exam is over, nobody gives a flying duck about you. i can't wait. the worst part is dealing with these teachers who really believe they are the re-incarnated god. i mean, who could get kicks out of punishing kids for trivial things like homework? then of course there are the contradicting ones. those who constantly change decisions and then blow a fuse when somebody contests their decisions. and of course, where theres contradiction there is sarcasm. and that does my head in. grown adults resorting to sarcasm to deal with people half if not less of their age? Yes, i understand teachers are people too, and that they really don't get kicks from it...but there is at least one that i know that does. this teacher is a combination of all the worst things a teacher can be. class consists of copying what is in our text books into notes for the sake of a few lousy words to be changed every paragraph. if there is one message i want to tell her it's that THE BOOK ISN'T WRONG! if it were, it wouldn't be on the market!

some people!

but hey, who gives half a feck? in the grand scheme of things, 100 years from now, it will be a distant memory, if remembered at all! The tough bit about it is how it seems the evil people are always remembered, yet us good people who do our work and stay in line pass by without significance.

I will be remembered. one way or another. watch this space.

video

I promised a video, so here is a nice little one i made earlier!

solidworks!

oh solidworks, you beauty!

if you dont know it, its my favourite program on the market. Its technically a c.a.d program in 3d, but if that turns you off, its so much better than lines and dots. the picture is not mine, i might upload a video of what i can make, but this shows its capabilities. have a look at this engine, a nice rendering which could be made in blender or AOI quite easily. make this in solidworks and its not just polygons in space. solid works gives it the ability to actually be an engine with movng parts and everything! (engine noises not included ;) )

we are very lucky in my school where, for DCG (design and communication graphics) we get this program for free to use in projects and our final design folder. really interesting stuff to get your hands on when your an inteligent imaginative teen with too much computer time and their own laptop to keep the program on. unfortunately, it is a memory whore! taking up about a third of the space on my laptop, but fortunately, rendering and RAM is not too badly shunted. The worst part is waiting for it to start up. i have had five minute waits to get the program workably loaded. worth it though.

The open evening of my school is on tonight at 8 and as one of (THE) the best students working with the program, i have been asked to come in and show off what i can do. I spent 3 hours yesterday working on a model of a robotic arm (like the ones at car assembly factories). I had most of the mechanism in the gripper complete when crash bang my computer freezes. which is an unfortunately common error i get. so i was knocked back about an hour or so which was annoying, but not a total train wreck. In DCG today i was lucky to have time to rectify the problems and get the mechanism fixed and saved. yay! so tonight will consist of finishing the project infront of a couple dozen people and showing off my wicked skillz! actually, im not wicked...

thanks for reading if you have!

bye

Welcome.

well, this beautiful machine is deep-thought.
who can sum up the whole meaning of life to be as insignificant as as a number like 42? genius? maybe...truth? i don't know.
OK, so i have wanted to have a blog for sometime, and in fact i did here just five minutes ago until i realised how fecked it was. so a new beginning.
I've had a lot of new beginnings lately, I'm recently single again, trying to learn acrylics..and a few other things. I'd love to be anonymous on here, but I'm sure i have some sort of contact details laying around here somewhere.
today's thought? well, there have been a few...i do get bored at times and things can get a little random. a friend of mine asked me today what i thought of the theory that we are really objects in a giant computer program. hehe, now that i think of it, it seems quite fitting! well, i told him it could well be and that there is no way to know for sure. I wonder though, could it be. then i began to think of the saying "is humanity a mistake of god or is god a mistake of humanity?" Personally, i believe that there has to have been something to start it all off, even if it was only creating a singularity point from which everything came. so i go on to think that from that some sort of event happened to combine the carbon hydrogen oxygen nitrogen phosphorous and sulfur. from there, well, i take bacteria as an example of evolution. from simple random mutation it either works or dies so after generation or 10 (only about a day) the bacteria can completely change their strain.
tip of the day! always finish your course of antibiotics! you wouldn't want to be held responsible for a lethal super flu would you?
signing off for now.
